Proverbs part - 1

 PROVERBS OF SOLOMON

Got wisdom

"God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of
understanding as measureless as the sand on the sea shore; He spoke
three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five."
1Kings4:29

Intro: The majority of the Book of Proverbs is attributed to Solomon, e.g., the first verse of the first chapter states; "The Proverbs of Solomon
the son of David, King of Israel." Proverbs1:1. God's promise to Solomon say's; "I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will
never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.” 1Kings3:12.

Title: Proverbs of Solomon
Subject: Biblical Wisdom
Part-one: Got Wisdom
Part-two: Get Wisdom
Part-three: Grow in Wisdom

Written to his son: "Listen, my son, to your fathers instructions and do not forsake your mother's teaching." Proverbs1:8.
The goal of Proverbs: "Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; Proverbs3:13.
The purpose of Proverbs: "For gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight." Proverbs1:2.
The theme of Proverbs: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge." Proverbs1:17.

Got wisdom: Quote: "Raphael paints wisdom, Handel sings it, Phidias carves it, Shakespeare writes it, Wren builds it, Columbus sails it,
Luther preaches it, Washington arms it. By: Ralph Waldo Emerson. (Quotes:Dictionary.com).

Definition: Wisdom in it simplest form means to understand; to know right from wrong, true or false.
Existential: A philosophical study of the essence of life. (Holman Bible Dictionary).
Religious: Begins with ones faith in Him as Lord and Savior. (Holman Bible Dictionary).
Secular: The art of learning how to succeed in life. (Holman Bible Dictionary).

Hebrew root: transliteration; Chakam - phonetically; kaw-kam,  (verb).
Original word: transliteration; Chokemah - phonetically; khok-maw' (noun-feminine).
a) to be or to become wise; act wisely, to make wise, to teach wisdom, instruct.
b) skill in war; wisdom in administration; shrewdness; prudence.
c) wisdom in religious affairs; ethical and religious wisdom.

Wisdom personified: "The Lord brought me forth as the first of His works, before His deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be. When there was no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water; I was there when He set the heavens in place, when He marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when He established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in His presence, rejoicing in His whole world and delighting in mankind." Proverbs8:22-31.

I am delighted by this metaphor describing the birth of wisdom into our world. As I see hear and touch God's creation I am continually saying to myself yes, God's wisdom created all of this too. Wisdom has always been one of God’s attributes. He made the earth by His power,  He founded the world by His wisdom." Jer51:15because of His grace and mercy we can, "rejoice always in His presence."

Jesus Christ is the wisdom and love of God incarnated; God provided Adam and Eve a covering for their sin after their fall in the garden."The lord made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them." Genesis3:12. Today God provides a covering for you and I for our sins by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His shed blood on the cross--a better covenant. Hebrews7:22.

How do you get wisdom: "The beginning of wisdom is this: "Get Wisdom."  Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her and she will honor you." Prov4:7-8. The source and fountainhead for wisdom is God; "It is a gift from God, and He will give generously to those who ask for wisdom.without a rebuke" Godly wisdom is from above" James1:5.

Here is applied wisdom: "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God--Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God" 1Corinthians1:18.

Application: Anyone seeking God must take the first step of faith. Find a quiet place, call out God's name and He will save you; "For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Go and tell a friend the good news like I did and then find a good Church where you can grow as a new born Christian.

ConclusionGot Wisdom; reverence God, give honor to His Son and never lose your first love.
