Word of Life - 3

Book of 1st John

Word of Life

part-3

Intro: Walking in the light and fellowship with God. This insightful passage of scripture is all about theology, ”God is Light,” and our practical experience, “if we walk in the Light.” The Apostle John’s announcement of this truth to you and I is an invitation to enjoy fellowship with God and one another, based on the blood of Jesus His Son, (1John1:7).

The message they have declared to you and I and professing Christians is: "God is Light." The message comes from what they have heard and seen, looked at and touched with their hands, the Incarnate, "Word of Life" Jesus. The first half of John's statement is a matter of fact to believers; the second half backs up the first half: "In Him there is no darkness at all." (1John1:5).

Text: 1John 1:5-7
5) This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6) If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

5) This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: John's message can be trusted absolutely. All of the Apostle's sat and ate with Jesus, they performed miracles, signs and wonders. They heard Him, looked at Him and touched Him with their hands. The message to you and I is rock solid and True, God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

6) If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. Ask yourself the hard questions; Do I live 100 percent for Jesus or is my Christian life 50/50. If your attempting to run away from God forget it, Read the Prayer of Jonah. He wakes up at the bottom of the ocean in the belly of a great fish and prays to God: "What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’” Jonah 2:9

7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. The answer is; if I could put up a road sign for people who are running away from God it would read; "Danger Turn Back Now," your going the wrong way.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way."

Psalm 139:23-24

Conclusion/Application: Read, learn and apply. Some people may never have read these words from the Bible but they are true and trustworthy. Here's my take away point: Always run to God never away from Him, because running away from God is like running into darkness -- God bless!

My testimony: I am a born again Christian, I was baptized and made a public confession of my faith on September 25th 1978 My Christian walk began with a twelve week class on the fundamentals of the faith which gave me a proper understanding of my new faith. As my faith in Jesus Christ grew I became a member of a large bible teaching Church in Los Angeles, California where for the next ten years I continued to grow in The Faith. Christ in me means that I have peace with God, hope for today and assurance for tomorrow. I am a work in progress and I wish to never forget the fact that He first chose me.

About this blog: "O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together." Psalm34 "Biblical Wisdom by verse" is dedicate to my God and my precious loving wife who always encourages me in The Faith. I enjoy Christian fellowship and sharing of God's word together which is the main reason for starting this blog. What you will find here is my love for Jesus Christ written on the pages of this blog. Simply stated what I write is what I learn from a verse by verse study of passages such as the temptations of Jesus. My credentials that qualify me to post what I believe on this public forum cannot be bought or sold they are God given.

What I believe about the Bible: The Bible is; from the beginning book of Genesis to the last book of Revelations, about God's revelation of His Son Jesus Christ to all of humanity- He is on every page. I believe the original written words of the bible were the very words of God and without error. I believe the collection of 66 books of the bible were written by imperfect people, who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to record what God has done, what He is doing now, and what He will do in the future. "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness." 2Timothy 3:16

Additionally I believe that the bible is a spiritual book and its spiritual truth cannot be understood by our natural eyes. "the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God because they are spiritually discerned." 1Cor2:14. Jesus would often teach a spiritual truth by using an important everyday occurrence such as the birth of a child and our need to be born again but He was often misunderstood. The bible can only be understood spiritually as it is illuminated by the Holy Spirit who is the true author of this wonderful book.

"The grass withers, the flower fades: but the word of our God abides forever."

A Psalm of King David

"But He caught me, He reach all the way from sky to sea;
pulled me out of that ocean of hate, that enemy chaos,
the void in which I was drowning. He stood me up on a
wide-open field; I stood there saved, surprised to be
loved."  Psalm18
