Word of Life - 3

Book of 1st John

Word of Life

part-3

Intro: Walking in the light and fellowship with God. This insightful passage of scripture is all about theology, ”God is Light,” and our practical experience, “if we walk in the Light.” The Apostle John’s announcement of this truth to you and I is an invitation to enjoy fellowship with God and one another, based on the blood of Jesus His Son, (1John1:7).

The message they have declared to you and I and professing Christians is: "God is Light." The message comes from what they have heard and seen, looked at and touched with their hands, the Incarnate, "Word of Life" Jesus. The first half of John's statement is a matter of fact to believers; the second half backs up the first half: "In Him there is no darkness at all." (1John1:5).

Text: 1John 1:5-7
5) This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6) If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

5) This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: John's message can be trusted absolutely. All of the Apostle's sat and ate with Jesus, they performed miracles, signs and wonders. They heard Him, looked at Him and touched Him with their hands. The message to you and I is rock solid and True, God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

6) If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. Ask yourself the hard questions; Do I live 100 percent for Jesus or is my Christian life 50/50. If your attempting to run away from God forget it, Read the Prayer of Jonah. He wakes up at the bottom of the ocean in the belly of a great fish and prays to God: "What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’” Jonah 2:9

7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. The answer is; if I could put up a road sign for people who are running away from God it would read; "Danger Turn Back Now," your going the wrong way.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way."

Psalm 139:23-24

Conclusion/Application: Read, learn and apply. Some people may never have read these words from the Bible but they are true and trustworthy. Here's my take away point: Always run to God never away from Him, because running away from God is like running into darkness -- God bless!
